In our Reception class, we work as a team to build on the strong foundations that your child has made throughout their learning journey so far, whether that be in Nursery or at home with you. Our fun and child-led curriculum is underpinned by the Characteristics of Effective Learning: your child will have the opportunity to play, explore, learn and develop their creativity and thinking skills while being supported by our highly-skilled Early Years staff.
We pride ourselves on having a broad and exciting curriculum that engages children by tapping into their own interests, enabling us to make the curriculum fun and relevant to all the children in the class. We spend time getting to know each child as an individual and work hard to establish strong relationships between home and school. A child’s first teachers are their parents and we believe that working in partnership with parents is key to ensuring that the children continue to thrive once they begin their journey through school.
We are lucky to have access to both our indoor and outdoor classrooms, recently enhanced with bi-fold doors to make the two spaces into one large classroom. This means that children are free to explore the range of activities on offer throughout the day and, thanks to the partial roof in our outdoor area, we can enjoy the outdoor space no matter what the weather. In order to develop our gross motor skills, we also have use of the school playground so that we can ride our bikes and scooters.
We are happy to answer any questions you may have about our Reception class, whether you are a current parent or a parent thinking about sending your child to our academy, so please get in touch.
