Hello and welcome to Year 5!
Year 5 offers an exciting, engaging curriculum for everyone to enjoy.
As our children start upper key stage two, they take responsibility for their own learning and continue to become confident, independent learners. This allows children to fully engage in school life and to become the best versions of themselves.
Our goal is to create an environment where every child feels safe, happy and valued. We do this by offering continuous support in all areas of school life and encouraging children to feel satisfied with the work they produce.
In English, we will explore the following books together: Beowulf, Riddle of the Runes, The Girl Who Stole an Elephant, The Closest Thing to Flying and Cogheart. As well as offering a variety of books in both our class reading corner and the school library for children to access and enjoy.
We’ll become Scientists as we learn all about Space, Forces, Materials, Lifecycles and Growing Older. Geographers as we study Asia and the Biomes. Then Historians as we discover the Anglo-Saxons and Scots, the Vikings and Baghdad and the Middle East. Together, we will journey to York and visit the Jorvik Museum to enhance our understanding of how the Vikings lived!
