Objectives

  • Staff lead by example through their relationships with the children and others
  • Our behaviour policy promotes good behaviour and encourages forgiveness
  • We promote our Holy Family High 5, which is reinforced through class rules
  • We reward pupils who show a good example to others and think of others
  • We have regular prayer, attendance at Mass and a daily act of collective worship, often planned and led by pupils
  • We explore other Faiths and develop empathy and understanding of other’s beliefs and traditions
  • We work closely with our Parish Community in Sacramental Preparation Programmes and in worship

  • Staff motivate children through interactive displays, motivational posters, planned activities which promote fair play, taking turns and working as teams and perseverance.
  • Staff lead by example, promoting high standards in all areas of school life
  • Challenging targets are set for all pupils to aim for, and progress towards targets is closely monitored
  • Planning includes differentiation at appropriate levels, shows a range of groupings and learning styles
  • Positive reinforcement at all times in all areas is given by staff and pupils are able to selfassess
  • Learning is vivid, real and enjoyable, based on first-hand experience through trips and visits
  • Pupils creativity is developed across the whole curriculum and links are made between subjects
  • Early Years and throughout school are encouraged to use the school environment including local walks and parks.
  • Specialist teaching of PE Music and French ensures the children are getting the highest possible standard of teaching.
  • ICT is used to enhance learning through the use of interactive screens, laptops, notebooks, the internet, digital media, i-pads etc.
  • All staff and governors have access to high-quality CPD and appraisal to develop their skills and nurture their potential
  • Time and resources are used to ensure staff wellbeing is prioritised to enable them to be an effective part of the school community
To encourage a strong partnership between home school and the wider community
  • We actively promote an awareness, concern and responsibility for creating an attractive and safe environment both internally and externally
  • All parents are kept well informed of their child’s progress through termly reports and parent evenings/review days
  • Our Pastoral team support families on an informal and formal basis sign posting to external agencies where necessary
  • Our School Council system ensures that pupils have a voice in school and they become active members of the Platt Bridge Community
  • The explicit teaching of British Values through assemblies and ‘Picture News’ ensures children are aware of their place in a global society.
  • We respect our environment and are an ‘Eco School’
  • We encourage pupils to use litter bins, to put equipment away safely and correctly, to respect and take pride in our school
  • We encourage pupils to respect their own and others belongings
  • We make strong links with our Parish community through singing for our senior citizens, inviting Parishioners to assemblies and Masses and in our Sacramental Preparation Programmes
  • We link with other schools and Parishes through our Community Carol Service
  • We support charitable organisations, e.g. CAFOD, Children in Need, the Hospice, ACT (local food bank), etc.
