Hello and welcome to Year 6!
We are looking forward to a wonderful year ahead. Year 6 is the opportunity to celebrate the learning journey we have been part of throughout our time at Holy Family. Our class has worked incredibly hard over the past 6+ years, so now it’s our time to shine.
Throughout Year 6, we will continue to develop the children’s independence, resilience and love of learning through many exciting curricular opportunities. Due to our fast-paced curriculum and high expectations, we encourage all our children be active learners and take pride in every aspect of their education.
Attendance and Punctuality:
It is essential that your child attends school and is on time every day, so they do not miss out on important learning. We have interventions that are crucial for your child’s success starting first thing in the morning.
Please help your child to strive for excellent attendance and punctuality.
Homework:
Homework is given out on a Friday and checked the following Friday. Children are expected to complete the following:
- TT rockstars 30 minutes per week
- Reading Plus (2 reads per week and the score must be above 80%)
- Reading Journal – this will be set randomly throughout the year and children will be informed when this is due
Extra-Curricular Activities:
Towards the end of the year, we go on a residential trip to the Anderton Centre, where we take part in various outdoor sports and team building activities. It is always a great trip where the children thrive on the different challenges they face.
